CHRIS GARASIC

EXECUTIVE CHEF

A culinary mastermind with over 20 years of experience, Chris Garasic passion is poured into every plate that he serves. A passion that first began in the rural areas of Seaside, Oregon and continued through his time at the Western Culinary School in Portland, Garasic moved to Southern California to assume a position at Disney’s famous hotel spa and restaurant, Napa Rose.

 

From Napa Rose, Garasic became Head Chef for J. Trani’s Ristorante in San Pedro, CA, Banquet Chef at Trump National Gold Club, Executive Chef at Mucho Ultima, and then Executive Chef at The Shade Hotel.

 

During his tenure as the Executive Chef at The Shade Hotel, Garasic worked hand-in-hand with several notable chefs; including Timothy Hollingsworth, formerly of The French Laundry, Bernhard Mairinger of BierBeisl, and Devin Alexander of The Biggest Loser. In January of 2013, Chris teamed up with the Mayor of Manhattan Beach to create the winning farm-to-table dish at the Blue Zone Mayors Cook Off. Within the same year, Chef Chris was also invited to serve as a guest judge alongside chefs from each of the 50 states for an episode of Bravo’s Master Chef. Most recently, Garasic was the Executive Chef at Malibu Farm, a fresh, farm to table restaurant in Southern California.

 

It is with great pride that we welcome Chef Garasic to Navy Proof Food & Spirits. His passion for quality, taste, and presentation is combined with his finely tuned culinary skills to develop a menu that is both simple and unique.

STEVE NYDELL

GENERAL MANAGER

Steve Nydell joins Navy Proof Food & Spirits with a food and beverage background that is defined by sights seen, travels had, and an ever-evolving passion for cocktails.

 

A passion that struck him from the beginning, Nydell’s career spans across Southern California to Canada.  After ten years in Canada, Nydell expanded not only his palette but his inspiration, traveling for two years to four continents, spending time in each city immersing himself in the culture, community, and language. These memorable moments brought a new level to his cocktails, taking them beyond the ingredients and helping him to create a storyline at first sip.

 

While Nydell can boast a list of awards and accolades, ranging from Featured Mixologist to Marriott leadership recognition, opening several restaurants and building their beverage program from scratch, he’s easily spotted amongst bar patrons, bringing an approachable and knowledgeable experience to their experience.
